We started harvesting yesterday on our Browns apples. The picture sums up the crop this year with the POUND coin showing how small the apples are. This variety is “biennial bearing”, which to some extent has amplified the extent of the drought.
We plan to finish this field and move the harvester to the Bittersweet fruit towards the end of next week. Even if not ripe, we will harvest a few tree to assess what Bittersweet fruit we have
We know that we will be short of Browns apples this year, with the shortfall probably mainly effecting our medley blends. If you have ordered Browns apples, Please look out for email notifications next week.
